«Architects don’t invent anything, they just transform reality.» — Álvaro Siza
One of the 20th century’s most iconic architects, Álvaro Siza is a Prizker Prize winner, socialist and passionate smoker.
The director does what possibly all of us would like to do with a person whom we esteem and are intrigued by. He listens and observes. With caution and respect. For an indefinite amount of time. One or more days with a great contemporary architect. Time dilates through the film following his thoughts. His pauses. His lucid, poetic rigor. It’s the life running through his works. It’s the answers to the questions posed by a profession that has so much to do with the lives of people. With history. With the evolution of the community. One speaks about social housing, of needs, of the differences between places, and of mutual influences. And it seems like there is nothing left to add.
